Neck Lift

NECK LIFTS

Taking care of aging skin is not limited to the face only. Signs of aging also appear on the skin of the neck caused by environmental factors, damage from exposure to the sun, and unhealthy habits and lifestyles. Due to various factors including environmental and hereditary, many people lose the youthful contours of their neck and face. When some people feel that the appearance of their upper face is pleasing still, they do not want to undergo a full facelift procedure. However, the excess appearance of wrinkles on the neck skin, jowl lines, ‘turkey wattle” or double chin troubles them.

WHAT IS A NECK LIFT?

Also known as Platysmaplasty, a neck lift is a plastic cosmetic procedure focusing on the removal of excess fat and skin from the neck to tackle the appearance of creasing and wrinkling of the skin in the neck to provide a slimmer and smoother looking neck profile.

WHAT CAN BE TREATED WITH NECK LIFT SURGERY?

The most common problems addressed with the help of neck lift surgery include jowls created by relaxed skin and excess fat in the lower face, loose neck skin, irregular contours of skin formed by muscle banding, and excess deposition of fats under the skin (turtle wattle).

WHAT CAN NOT BE ACHIEVED WITH A NECK LIFT?

The fundamental appearance of a person cannot be changed with a neck lift because it is a restorative surgery. Also, the process of aging cannot be stopped by it.

SURGICAL NECK LIFT PROCEDURES

Surgical procedure for neck lift takes place in a clinic or doctor’s office and can take several hours. During the procedure, small incisions are made behind and around the ears. A very small cut is also made below the chin. The neck muscles are carefully lifted and excess fat and skin are removed. Incisions are then closed and a pressure dressing is applied underneath the chin and around the head.
