Thigh Lift

THIGH LIFT
If you have successfully been able to shed some weight, you might also be considering getting shapely and smoother legs as well. Possibly you may also want to do something with your thigh’s skin which is getting loose and sagging as you age. It seems a thigh lift may be the solution to your extra hanging skin.
WHAT IS A THIGH LIFT?
Thigh lift or thighplasty is a cosmetic surgical procedure aimed at reshaping the thighs by decreasing the amount of extra skin as well as fat deposits in some cases. It gives a smooth-looking skin on the thigh and a better-looking shape of the thigh and your lower body.

DIFFERENT TYPES OF THIGH LIFT
Extra skin and fat are removed with the help of a thigh lift and different types of incisions are made to achieve the results. Depending on your need, your doctor will recommend the best option for you that fulfills your individual needs. Thigh lift surgery is of the following types:

Medial (Inner) Thigh Lift

It is the frequently used method of thighplasty. The sagging skin of the inner thigh is targeted by making a cut from your groin that runs down towards the knee or otherwise, the cut runs in the direction of the posterior thigh.

Mini Thigh Lift

Few cuts are made in this method in comparison to others which involve only making a cut in the groin area. Your doctor will decide whether this method is suitable for you or not depending on your requirement. This method is good when the extra skin and fat need to be removed from the inner area of the upper thigh only.

Bilateral (Outer) Thigh Lift

The outside part of the thigh is focused in this method. In this technique, a cut is made in the groin area which runs outward towards the hip and the area of the lower back.

Vertical Thigh Lift

This method is considered when there is a need to remove a lot of extra skin from all over the thigh. In this technique, larger cuts are made that run down to the knees. But due to the high chances of complications, this method might not be considered by your doctor.

Lift with Liposuction

In the case where the skin elasticity is very poor, the doctor may suck out extra fat from the thighs with liposuction to help prevent sagging of the skin.

HOW DOES THE PROCEDURE WORK?

The thigh lift surgery is performed under general anesthesia and based on the type of surgery your doctor has chosen for you, cuts are made on the thigh. Then extra skin and fat deposits are removed and the cuts are stitched.

RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH THIGH LIFT

Although serious complications are not that frequently observed with thigh lift but you might experience scarring, bleeding, asymmetry of the thigh, skin discoloration, infections, decrease skin elasticity, heart or lung problems, deep vein thrombosis, or fluid accumulation. Therefore, you need to determine first whether these side effects are worth achieving your desired results or not.
